Kindergarten Graduation

June 27th, 2013

We had a great time attending Ariel’s kindergarten graduation on her last day of school! She and her class sang an adorable song about being ready for 1st grade. Here’s a little snippet:

And the class’ thoughtful teacher passed out a candy bar award to each and every student.  She really did take a lot of thought and heart to make sure her students felt special on their graduation day.  Here is Ariel receiving her Amazing Artist Award!

Congratulations for having a successful year in kindergarten, Ariel!  As always, we’re super proud of all of your accomplishments and we know you’ll do fantastic next year in 1st grade!

Father’s Day 2013

June 16th, 2013

Even though Papa Bear insists we don’t make a big fuss on Father’s Day, we went ahead and threw him a celebration.  Party on!

And to all our Grandpas (Grandpa Ceasar, Jim, & Bill), we didn’t forget about you.  We tried something new this year which may have been a little risky.  If you don’t ever get your postcards, please let us know!

Happy Father’s Day to all you dedicated daddies out there!

A Sweet Treat

May 10th, 2013

Boy, did I get a sweet treat yesterday!  Sylas’ preschool planned a Mother’s Day tea party for all the mommies.  Not only did I receive a place mat with a special message:

But I also got to hear Sylas sing a few songs. Here’s a few short clips of his performance:

You did an awesome job, Sylas!  Catch the rest of the footage here.  Enjoy and Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard working mommies out there!

The Party!

March 17th, 2013

We finally got to sing Happy Birthday to Sylas with some of his pals.  He had his first full-fledged birthday party at a nearby art store (it’s also part toy store).

The party started off with some coloring sheets then moved onto a bigger room where the kids worked on some Lego tower building.  Once they were done, the kids worked together and combined each of their towers to construct an enormous one!  Then the (older) kids played pin the head on the Lego figure.  I think the younger ones were a wee bit intimidated about the whole blindfolding/spinning deal.  But all in all, it was a fun party for our four-year-old.  Just check out his enthusiasm in the slideshow:

(Or view the party set on Flickr.)

Thanks to our pals for stopping by and partying with us.  We appreciate the good times and Sylas loves the presents.  It’s sort of a relief to be done with birthdays for now.  We can take a break from the sweet treats, I hope!

Ariel’s Blog

January 27th, 2013

On Friday, Ariel drew an elaborate picture of a Pokémon and decided she wanted to make a website called  We checked to see if the domain was available and it was!  But we didn’t feel it was the right time to purchase a domain for her just yet.  Instead I set up a sub-domain for her at  We’ve been scanning all morning to get things started.  Check it out!

December 16th, 2012

Sylas and I had a grand time watching Ariel and the rest of the kindergarteners lead their school’s Virtue Assembly Friday morning.  She was pretty anxious about the whole ordeal but we think Ariel did a great job, as always!

You can check out the videos and rest of the pics in the gallery.

Later in the evening, the PTA held another assembly to raise funds for the art and music department.  Dad was able to join in the fun and we discovered that Ariel’s painting moved on to the next round.  Her piece will be displayed at the mall.  Wow!

Here she is with her ribbons and prize:

We’re so proud of you Ariel! Congratulations and good luck in the next round!

First Black Friday

November 23rd, 2012

We actually were out and about on Black Friday!  Though, we spent it at the photography studio at Sears not shopping.

The kids were so good about the long wait(s) at the studio we finally gave in and let them play at the newest attraction at the nearby mall.  The entrance fee costs a pretty penny but it was well spent.  They played for 2 1/2 hours!

Here is what Sylas looked like when he finally let us leave:

He could barely walk back to the car because his muscles were sore.  I hope he’ll be okay in the morning.

Enjoy the rest of your November!
